G holmes braddock graduation requirements

• You are required to maintain a 2.0 grade point average (GPA) in order to participate in any extra curricular activities (this is also a graduating requirement).

• Get involved in any after school activities or sports. It's important to make a good impression early and it would look better when applying for college in your senior year.

• Pep rallies are basically during football season (one for winter and spring sports as well), so expect to see many upperclassmen all dressed up with paint on their faces.

• Start doing research on the colleges or universities that you are considering to attend. It's always good to do this type of research as early as possible. This will help you in knowing the pre-requisites which each college or university requires you to have before being able to attend it.

• It will always help to start preparing for the FCAT. Braddock offers after school tutoring for those who desire to take advantage of it.

• If you want to stay on track of your grades you can always click on the 'A+?' icon on the homepage of this web page. You will be asked to type in your Student ID # and pin code. Your pin code is actually your birthday; numbers must go in the sequence year/month/day.

• When on any school computer you are not allowed to check or send e-mail due to viruses that could infect the computer.

• AP classes are college courses that give you both college and high school credit, but take note that not every college or university accepts AP credits. If you need any information on how to enroll in any type of AP class, you can always ask your counselor about it.

Students are expected to attend school for 180 days. In the event that an absence occurs, the student must provide an explanatory note signed by the parent/guardian. Notes must be submitted before school or during lunch to an attendance clerk in the attendance office. Students ONLY have two days (48 hours) to get the notes excused. Students are required to obtain their teachers' signature which should enable them to make-up all missed assignments. Excused absences include:

• Illness of self or immediate family

• Medical Appointment

• Religious observance

• Court Appearance

• School-Sponsor event

• Situation beyond the control of the parent or student, as determined by the principal or principal's designee

*Students who do not submit an excused note when absent, will be given a zero for any missed assignment.

Students who accumulate 10 or more unexcused absences in an annual course, will receive an NC (NO CREDIT) in that course and shall have to re-take the course. Consequently, students who accumulate 5 or more unexcused absences in a semester course, will receive a NC (NO CREDIT) in that course and shall have to re-take the course. Students are recommended to save all excused admits in the event that the students would need to appeal a grade. Students are expected to attend class on time. Students who arrive tardy to school will be issued a one hour detention once the 4th tardy is reached and every tardy there after.

• 1.0 P.E.

• 1.0 Fine Art

• 8 Elective Class Credits

• 2.0 GPA

• 1 hour of Community Service (College Requirements may differ)

• Pay all fines through the School Treasurer (Lab fees, Textbook fines, and Late book return fees)
